Giving Project Life the Chop

Hello, hello, Karen here with another project life post.

I was perusing Pinterest, as we all do, the other day and came across several project life pages where the designer had made a normal 12 x 12 page and then chopped it up and put it into a project life page protector.  An interesting but scary prospect.

I decided to take the plunge and designed a page, with the intention of chopping it up.  The backfilled hearts were cut on my Silhouette and I also used it for drawing the faux stitching.  Once I had backed them with patterned paper I added them to my page, along with a title and used a piece of white card to decide which pocket I was going to put my photo in.

I then went in for the kill - sliced my page into 7 pieces to fit into the pockets.  I had intended to add embellishments once I had put the pieces in the appropriate pockets but once it was made, I felt the only other thing it needed was a journaling card.

Will you be brave enough to chop up a layout to put into a project life page protector? If so please show it to us on the ATDML facebook page.

October Virtual Crop 2017 - Class 3 with Mel

Welcome to the last class of today's virtual crop. Thank you for your patience with the amended timings.

Both layouts use the lovely Pink Paislee Memorandum.

October 2017 VC Class 2 with Ann Freeman

Welcome to my midday class for this month which features papers from one of my favourite autumn collections - Simple Stories Pumpkin Spice.

Layout 1 is a quick one to pull together with a 4"x6" photo and a cluster of embellishments - nice and easy to scraplift using your own papers if you didn't manage to get a kit.

Layout 2 features a concertina fold mini-book to accommodate 8-10 photos plus autumnal quotes and elements which can either be on the page (as illustrated) or made separately and thereby keeping the layout nice and simple, maybe replacing the book with another photo?

Instructions for these can be downloaded HERE

I look forward to seeing your pages inspired by this class be they using the kit or your own papers, virtual copies or inspired by pages. Do share!

Next class is up at 2pm with our Mel x

October Virtual Crop Class 1 with Karen Using Kaisercraft's Mademoiselle

Hello, hello. Karen here up first for the October Virtual Crop.

This month I have three pages created with Kaisercraft's Mademoiselle  range. Although this is a feminine based range  I have also made a male page with it.  If you don't have one of the kits you are still very welcome to join in using your own stash and make your own version of the pages.

Page 1 -Friendship

Lots of girly pink and butterflies on this one.

Layout 2 - Don't Wait For The Perfect Moment ...

Using the 'B' side of some of the papers to make a masculine layout.

Layout 3 - Friends Are Special Treasures ...

Another feminine layout but could be made more masculine by omitting the butterflies.

Hope you have a happy scrappy weekend and please share the pages you make on our Facebook page.

Gallery Highlights with BoBunny

Here are some highlights from September's gallery, first up is a beautiful page by Ann using the Serendipity  collection for BoBunny - I love the way that she has used the watercolour paper, and then added loads of journalling and photos in a flip book underneath the main photo.

Such a great idea when you have lots of photos or information to record.

I love the title that Karen uses for her page...I also love the amazing cream tea photo too!  She has fussy cuts lots of the beautiful little aprons in this collection, and I really like the diamond shape she has used in the middle of the page, plus that title is perfect!

Some more Kiss the Cook papers from me, I love the reds and greens in this collection and they have lots of vintage cards of different fruits and vegetables, so I cut these out for the background.  I attached some border punched lace - just pleated the paper around a circle, then also used one of the foiled vellums in this collection for the the title.

The gallery is packed with more inspiration, so do check it out...and maybe have a go at a scrap lift.

Two for the Price of One - October Scraplift Challenge

Hello, hello lovlies.

This month I have scraplifted not one but two layouts from the September Gallery which can be found on the ATDML shop website on the right under Information.

So first of all I was inspired by Katherine's splendid layout 'Bucket Of Memeries'

I loved the clusters and that she made the wooden shape into a shaker. I didn't have any seed beads to make a shaker so filled my wooden shape with gems.

Thinking that I had got my Scraplift Challenge done nice and early I then saw that Ann had posted this lovely layout and knew that a second one was in the making!

For my one I also used Kraft as my background and used my Silhouette to cut out the heart, doodle the heart and around the edges.  I also added little splashes of embellishments like Ann.  But because it's me and I like a bit of layering added an embellishment cluster to the right of the photo.

As always, I am really excited to see what you come up with this month.

Happy Scraplifting x
