A little Graphic 45 and Distress Oxides

This month we are working with Graphic 45 and I was sent some of the beautiful Nature Sketchbook which you can find here.  There are loads of lovely bits you can cut out - like the flowers and butterflies, and I also had a play at assembling my own flower from the flower pack - they are double sided and I just curled them up, layered them and added a button to the centre.

The other thing I tried out was some of the new Distress Oxides - I saw them in some of Tim Holtz's U-tube videos after the Winter Craft and Hobbies Association conference.  They are a mix between a dye and chalk ink, and particularly good for layering up and also using on darker card stock because when you add water they become more opaque which gives them their oxide name.  You can do all the things that you can normally do with distress inks, so blend and add water droplets and all those sorts of things but a little bit more.  The range of colours is opening up but you will find your favourites in amongst the mix and you can use them with your normal distress inks too.  I think they stamp slightly better than normal distress inks - but I'm not an expert stamper so give it a try for yourself.

For this background I added a few colours to a piece of plastic, then spritzed water and added stamped the plastic onto my card stock- you need to dry between each layer with a heat gun, and then once it is mostly dry you can repeat the process, so you get lovely layers of colour without it becoming too muddy.  After I had created my inky background I then added a little bit of stamping and the papers.

July Virtual Crop Class 3 with Ann using Carta Bella Old World Travel

Your last class of the day is a mini book using Carta Bella Old World Travel paper and a scalloped mini book with book rings.

The class shows you how to add variety and interest to a blank mini book such as this, creating your own pockets, flaps and interactive elements. My instructions to complete the class can be downloaded from our website HERE

I hope you enjoy. Don't forget to join in with our challenges too this month, just scroll back through the blog to find them :) Happy Saturday.

July Virtual Crop - Class 2 with Katherine Sutton using BoBunny Firecracker

Hello and welcome to the 2nd class of this months Virtual Crop - I had a really good go at using most of the papers that are in this kit...so we start with a double page layout packed full of photos and punched stars.

There has been a trend of large titles in Scrapping recently, so I thought I would have a go at my own - all cut with a template and a craft knife, then I backed the letters with different papers.

The final page is an easy put together sort of page with lots of layering.  The papers are all American themed, but you can easily adapt them to other occasions.

I hope you enjoy the class and do share what you make on our Facebook page or post a link in the comments.

July Virtual Crop Class 1 with Karen Using Kaisercraft's Mermaid Tails

Hello, hello. Karen here up first for the July Virtual Crop.

This month I have two pages created with Kaisercraft's Mermaid Tails range. Although this range is seaside/water based I have disguised the mermaid elements to make it more generic.  If you don't have one of the kits you are still very welcome to join in using your own stash and make your own version of the pages.

Page 1 - Beauty Begins .....

A good way to use up those Snapchat picture that have been lounging around in my box of photos.

Dream - Wish - Love

This is a page for those of you who love a bit of 'fussy cutting'!

Hope you have a happy scrappy weekend and please share the pages you make on our Facebook page.
