Answers to Cybercrop Challenge 2

Well the night is still young and whilst there are no more classes or challenges this evening we did promise yesterday answers to the picture challenge 2 posted on Saturday.

Did you play along? Hope a few smiles were cracked as well as maybe a groan or two! I had great fun with my family pulling the images together and my favourite I think had to be Marylebone although St.Pauls also made me giggle!

So without further ado here are your answers to our picture challenge.

LINK TO ANSWERS

Well done if you got them all right! I must admit I had to think on a few when I came back to these over the weekend having designed the challenge weeks ago! No prizes for this challenge but I think one or two might be in store for the other challenges so if you've not had a chance yet to take part do have a look at them.

To give you all plenty of time to play along, especially those who could not join in the cybercrop fun this weekend the deadline for all of the challenges above is next Sunday July 27th.  We will share details of randomly selected winners from those who have played along and shared their challenges the week after.

Class 17 - CENTRAL LINE

Well this is the third of my three classes for this Cyber Crop and in fact it is the last class of the weekend. I hope everyone has had a wonderful time and been inspired to get scrapping!

My last class is named not after a station but by a line; the Central Line. I took this as the inspiration for the two layouts specifically focusing on "Central."

Layout 1 - 'I love your crazy cartwheels' literally has a horizontal central line which was the starting point for the layout.

Layout 2 - 'I love what you do' focuses on "central" and the photo is placed dead centre in the layout.

As you can see a nice loose and easy to adopt interpretation of the Underground link to finish off the weekends classes.

Click here to download the PDF instructions for this class.

Any questions pop over to our facebook page where there will be lots of people on hand to answer your questions and to chat.

Challenge #8 - GRANGE HILL

Our last challenge for the Cybercrop takes us to GRANGE HILL.

Grange Hill was a British television drama series originally made by the BBC. The show began in 1978 on BBC1 and was one of the longest-running programmes on British Television when it ended its run in 2008, some 30 years later!

For this challenge we want you to create a school themed layout, maybe featuring a school photograph, telling the story of a new school, scrapbook a photo with a friend you have known since school, school play or sporting photos, last day of school whatever - you get the idea!!

Karen illustrates this challenge for us below using Simple Stories DIY papers.

Katherine also created an example for this challenge .

Deadline for this challenge to be shared with us and maybe in with a chance to win a prize is next Sunday July 27th  Share your pages with us in the usual way and we will see you back here at 5pm for the final class of the weekend with Mel who ends our journey on the CENTRAL LINE.

Class 16 - PICCADILLY with Ann

Hello lovely people and welcome to my Sunday afternoon class where I take you to PICCADILLY. I chose Piccadilly as my class as I am reminded of the circular roundabout and the Eros statue when I think of Piccadilly Circus and that suited my circular based layout here.

I created this page originally at the April 2014 retreat and was asked if I could make it in to a class, as several people wished to scraplift it, so here you are!  For those of you who purchased the kit for this class I tried to make it as neutral as possible to fit many themes so I hope you enjoy!

The instructions for all classes will remain on the website so you can come back and download at a later date if you do not have time this weekend or save them to your computer for when you are ready.

As always we would love to see your versions of this class and hope you will take a moment to share them with us. Our Facebook cybercrop classes album can be found HERE where you can add your images, or post on Twitter tagging @atdml or link your shared image in the comments to this posting.

Have a gloriously crafty Sunday afternoon and we are back here at 4pm with your final challenge for the weekend and then at 5pm for the final class of the weekend. See you then x

Class 15 - HIGH BARNET with Karen

I can't believe we have done 14 classes already!  Welcome to my final class of the weekend - High Barnet - my layout is called 'Big Hair' .  As soon as I saw the list of underground stations I knew exactly what photo I would use for this one.

In this class we are layering, layering and layering some more!  I always use lots of foam pads, sometimes doubling and trebling them up when I want lots of lumpyness to my page but this layout will look just as good flat.

The bonus project is a mini album (simple to make I promise - Tracey D) which uses 6 x 4 journaling cards as the base of the page.

You can upload your projects to our Facebook Cybercrop challenge photo album which can be found here , or post on Twitter tagging @atdml or link your shared image in the comments to this post.

So where to next after you have visited High Barnet - Ann's final class of the weekend and she is taking you to Piccadilly - see you there!

Challenge #7 - BANK

Challenge #7 this fine Sunday lunchtime and we bring you to BANK.

This challenge idea came from Jane who has illustrated it beautifully below with her altered 'Fortnum & Masons' tea canister using Marion Smith papers. We challenge you to create a moneybox from paper/card or altering an existing item. It can be as basic or elaborate as you like and could be a perfect gift to yourself for putting money away to save for something special or a fun change pot to have for your coppers.

We are super excited to see what you all come up with for this challenge the deadline for which is next Sunday July 27th. Who knows, you could win a prize simply for having a go and sharing your project!

Next up at 1pm, be sure to fix your hair before you check in with Karen as she takes you to HIGH BARNET for Class #15.

Class 14 - CRYSTAL PALACE with Jane

Technically 'Overground', rather than 'Underground' your next stop is Crystal Palace at the end of the line. If you're not interested in football then maybe you might want to alight here to visit the Victorian concrete dinosaurs in Crystal Palace park...?

But to me 'Crystal Palace' does not conjure up either footballers or grey lumps of concrete. I think of sparkling crystal, glass chandeliers and all things grand, after all it was named after the original Glass structure or 'Crystal Palace' originally built in Hyde Park for the Great Exhibition in 1851 but moved to South London after the Exhibition was over. So my project is a double layout, to reflect the 'palace' part and full of bling for the 'crystal' part. If you're using your own stash I think the only 'MUST' here is to throw lots of bling at it and have fun!

Here is my double layout...

And some close ups...

Bonus Cards...

I hope you enjoy the class.  Don't forget to leave a link to your pages in the comments below - or share your images in our Facebook gallery on ATDML #Create

Our next station will be 'Bank' at Midday for a challenge, followed by 'High Barnet' with Karen at 1pm. Happy Travels!

Class 13 LONDON BRIDGE - with Denise

Happy Sunday morning to you. My last class of the weekend gets me humming 'London Bridge is falling down - falling down la la la '
My project this time is something bright and colourful reflecting the fun and colour of our nursery rhymes...

Tags in a book
A little book cover secured with some ribbon
Some tags with embellishments one side
and the option to add photos if you wish on the other sides
A bright colourful themed mini book with an air of fun
and lots of flowers!

a band and tag

and a pocket or two

So there we have my last class of the weekend. I hope you like it and it would be good
to see your creations and versions linked at the bottom here or posted to our Facebook group ATDML#Create.
Next visit along the line is Crystal Palace with Jane at 10.30 am.

Challenge #6 - NOTTING HILL GATE

Welcome back to day three and we start with our 6th challenge NOTTING HILL GATE. When most people think of Notting Hill it is either the famous & colourful carnival that springs to mind or the movie from the 90s starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant.

So for this challenge we are going to combine those two things and challenge you to create a colourful layout featuring a film title either as the page title or contained within your journaling.  Karen has illustrated this challenge for us in the layout below using Simple Stories.

As always you can share your creations with us if you are so inclined by leaving a link to your page in the comments below, sharing on Twitter and tagging @atdml or via our Challenge Album on Facebook which can be found here and it is filling up nicely with your challenge creations thus far!! Deadline for this challenge is next Sunday July 27th.

Next up is your first class of the day at 9am LONDON BRIDGE with Denise. Have a beautiful Sunday x

Saturday 19 July 2014

Challenge #5 - EDGWARE ROAD

Last challenge for the day (#5) as we stop off at EDGWARE ROAD and pay some attention to the edges of our papers.

Distress your edges, fold your edges, curl your edges, ink your edges, fray your edges, pleat your edges or tear your edges... just don't leave them untouched for this challenge!

Our Katherine is a bit of distress edge queen when it comes to her inky layouts and I particularly love  this one from Websters Pages gallery earlier this year which illustrates this challenge beautifully.

I also got a little distressed(!) on this layout for the Marion Smith gallery last month.

Of course don't forget to share your creations with us in the usual ways: comments below, Twitter @ATDML, or in the Facebook challenge galleryDeadline for this challenge to be shared with us and maybe in with a chance to win a prize is next Sunday July 27th.

Hope you've all enjoyed day two of our Cybercrop. See you back here on the blog tomorrow morning where 8am will see Challenge #6 NOTTING HILL or come chat over on Facebook if you are still up and crafting and let us know what you've been enjoying most!

Class 12 - COVENT GARDEN with Jane

Welcome to Covent Garden station on the Picadilly line and home to shops, restaurants, street performers and lots of other surprises!

When you think of Covent Garden, you think of flowers from when it used to be a flower market and you think of the bohemian environment it is today. Because of this, Bohemian Bazaar papers from Graphic 45 totally fit the bill for any class called ‘Covent Garden’. I also think Covent Garden is full of surprises so I wanted to create a class with a bit of a surprise. At first glance this project looks like an altered book but open it up to discover that this is not a real book but a hollow shell containing a mini-book! I love to layer things up and make them 3D but this is entirely a personal thing and if you're not as keen on 'fussy cutting' as I am then just leave that bit out!

Here are some pictures of my finished project...

Instructions for this class are available in both written form and video (2 of them!)...

How to make the 'fake' book...

How to make the mini album inside...

I hope you enjoy the class.  Don't forget to leave a link to your pages in the comments below - or share your images in our Facebook gallery on ATDML #Create

The final station for today will be Edgeware Road at 10pm where you will meet yet another challenge!

Class 11 - WATERLOO with Katherine Sutton

Hello, I hope you are enjoying the weekend and welcome to Waterloo, and the theme is water so my class is about using watercolours on your page in the form of circles.  I used distress inks for the watercolours, but you can use any water based paint.  Here are some close ups of the double page:

There are templates for the arrows and banners at the end of this post too.  As there were so many beautiful papers in the kit I also made a second page...it is waterless, and there is a little sewing and flower creation too - I used instagram to add the polaroid photo frame to my picture and then got it printed (if you don't fancy that then Crate Paper in their DIY shop range had a nice set of acetate photo overlays that you could use).

I'll be about checking any comments on here and Facebook - do share your creations with us, whether you use the kit of put together your own kit for the class....I hope you enjoy it.
